About AlertsEU
AlertsEU puts civil-protection alerts, weather warnings, airspace incidents and security events from all of Europe on one live map — from Iceland to Cyprus: the EU and EEA countries, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Western Balkans and Moldova. Air-raid alerts for the western oblasts of Ukraine are shown as context, so the other side of the border is visible next to your own.
What you see
- The map — districts and countries coloured by event class: air and military threats, civil protection, weather, aviation, infrastructure. A solid fill means the source named that district; a translucent tint means only the country is known or the value is an estimate.
- Active — only severe events from official sources that are in force now. Feed — everything from the last day. Recent — finished events.
- Zones — West, Central and East narrow the map and the feed to a part of Europe; every country also has its own page, for example Poland, Germany or Finland.
- History and statistics — an archive of past events with a day-by-day player.
Where the data comes from
- Weather warnings — MeteoAlarm / EUMETNET, the joint feed of the European national meteorological services (CC BY 4.0), plus direct feeds of FMI (Finland) and ČHMÚ (Czechia).
- Civil protection — national machine-readable warning systems where they exist: NINA / MoWaS (Germany), Sveriges Radio VMA (Sweden), UK Emergency Alerts and official government channels of other countries.
- Natural hazards — GDACS (EC Joint Research Centre), EMSC (earthquakes), EFFIS and Copernicus EMS (wildfires and mapping activations), NASA FIRMS (thermal hotspots).
- Navigation interference — aggregated GPS-jamming observations (GPSJam, OSINT).
- Ukraine — air-raid alerts from alerts.in.ua (official feed and public mirrors) and an automatic estimate of the spillover risk for neighbouring border regions.
- Media — RSS feeds of national agencies and outlets in every covered country, classified automatically. A media report is marked Q3, or Q2 when the article itself cites an official body or a news agency. Either way it stays a media report: the application shows its headline, a short extract and a link to the original, and our feeds and API never carry the headline or the text.
- Boundaries — Eurostat GISCO (© EuroGeographics); Ukrainian oblasts and cities — Natural Earth.
Method: trust levels Q1–Q4
Every event carries a trust level, shown on its card and used to decide where it may appear.
| Q1 | Official machine feed: a national emergency service, weather service or air-navigation authority. Published unchanged. |
|---|---|
| Q2 | An official source, or official data processed automatically: the spillover-risk estimate for border regions, or a media report that cites an official body or a news agency. Read it as a pointer to the original statement, not as a confirmed alert. |
| Q3 | Media and monitoring, processed automatically and not checked by a human. Does not colour the map by default, never appears in “Active” and is never sent as a push notification. |
| Q4 | Unverified reports. Not published at present. |
News items go through a rule-based classifier: an item is published only when it names an incident type and a place inside the coverage; opinion pieces, anniversaries, drills and stories about other parts of the world are dropped. Reports of the same incident from several outlets are merged into one event. Push notifications are sent only for new Q1/Q2 events of the air, civil-protection and aviation classes with severity “severe” or higher.
Data, feeds and embedding
The data shown on the map is open for reading. Please name the source — “AlertsEU (alertseu.com)” plus the original source of the event — and do not poll more often than once every 30 seconds.
- /feed.atom — Atom feed of official alerts in force, all countries.
-
/feed/{cc}.atom— the same for one country, by lower-case coverage code: pl, de, el (Greece), uk (United Kingdom). - /llm.md — a Markdown situation report for AI assistants and scripts; described in /llms.txt.
- /snap/v1/api/countries.json — counts and top events per country; /snap/v1/api/active.json — all events in force with readable keys (JSON, open to cross-origin requests). For media reports these files give the type, the area, the outlet and the link to the original — not the headline.
-
/snap/v1/active.json,/snap/v1/feed.json,/snap/v1/health.json— the raw snapshots the map itself reads (compact keys, may change without notice).
To put the live map on your own page, use the embed mode and keep the visible link next to it:
<iframe src="https://alertseu.com/embed?zone=all&lang=en&theme=dark"
width="100%" height="520" style="border:0" loading="lazy"
title="AlertsEU — live map of alerts in Europe"></iframe>
<p><a href="https://alertseu.com/?utm_source=embed&utm_medium=embed">Live alerts map of Europe — AlertsEU</a></p>
Parameters: zone = west | central | east | all, country = coverage code (PL, DE, EL…),
lang = interface language, theme = dark | light.
